Man Lai Hot Spring Ramen 滿來溫泉拉麵

We were starving by the time we found this place and the line up was really long, so we didn’t bother eating our main meal there and just came back for one of their famous Hot Spring Eggs.  I had never tried Hot Spring Eggs (溫泉蛋) before which I knew were eggs prepared using hot spring water.  I figured that if I was experiencing a hot springs town, I will need to try a hot spring egg.  One serving cost $25NTD

I had been expecting something similar to a tea egg, but boy was I wrong!  The egg turned out to be a soft boiled cold egg swimming in soy sauce and topped with seaweed and garnished with green onions and a dab of wasabi.  To this day, I am still shocked that it was a cold egg, especially because it was soft boiled.  We had ordered it as take out and went to a nearby park to eat it immediately, so we definitely didn’t give it time to get cold.  I would go back and try the ramen, but never the egg again.  It was honestly probably the most disgusting thing we tried on this trip!
