There’s a Japanese Garden in Lethbridge?

I’d heard about the Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden before, but never fully believed that such a place could exist in Lethbridge.  I ended up visiting the gardens twice in a span of 9 days and enjoyed both visits thoroughly.

The gardens are located inside the Henderson Lake Park and are every bit as beautiful as the ones I’ve seen in Japan, but just on a much smaller scale.  In fact, you could easily walk through the entire garden in a few minutes, if you weren’t stopping every few seconds to take a picture.

There is a great deal of greenery surrounding a small man-made lake and the walking path basically just circles the lake.  There are a couple of picnic tables set up throughout the area, so I’m assuming many people can book a picnic date there.  We also ran into people taking wedding photos as well as people inquiring about a wedding ceremony, which I’d imagine to be quite a popular venue.

At various times of the day, there are also performances and tea ceremonies.  The gardens is an incredible introduction to Japanese culture and the tranquility and beauty of the gardens really makes it a worthwhile place to spend an hour or so.
