The Osaka Castle (大阪城) is probably one of Japan’s most well-known sites, and is definitely considered one of Osaka’s premier tourist attractions.
Typical of Japanese castles, Osaka Castle is built on a platform surrounded by a moat, to prevent attackers. Also typical of Japan, the castle grounds are lined with beautiful gardens and long pathways, and have a very serene and tranquil atmosphere.
Although I have visited this famous castle, I have yet to learn much about the history and significance of the castle. Perhaps this requires another trip back there one day to educate myself.
