Baskin Robbins in Korea

The number of Baskin Robbins locations was slowly disappearing in Canada and I was quite surprised to find that they are all over Korea.

Not only do they sell ice cream, but they have cakes and fondue as well!  Baskin Robbins is so popular that there is even a popular Korean drinking game based on the 31 flavours of ice cream Baskin Robbins carries.

We were having a going away party for one of my friends and someone brought a cake, which was packaged in this Styrofoam container which helped prevent the cake from melting.  I guess this is one of those differences between Asia and Canada.  In Asia, most people use public transportation and it’s necessary for businesses to take this into consideration and offer things like these containers so that the products can still be enjoyed even after some time.

I had heard about the ice cream fondue at Baskin Robbins and my friend and I were determined to try it before I left Korea for good.  After dinner, we made our way to Baskin Robbins with the intention of trying this fondue.  We were definitely very impressed by the appearance and couldn’t wait to try it.

After a few bites, we realized that we probably should have brought a few more people with us.  Although it may not look very large, it’s actually quite a bit of ice cream and way too heavy for just 2 people.  It was great that only one side was full of ice cream and the other held cakes and some fruit.  If I had to make a suggestion though, I would have asked for more fruit and less ice cream.  It was really fun though getting to try all the different ice cream flavours I probably would never order.
