Hotel Review: Ha Hien 1 Hotel

We chose the Ha Hien 1 Hotel in Ho Chi Minh mainly because of its convenient location.  The hotel is situated approximately 5 minutes north of the Ben Thanh Market, which means that there is an abundance of restaurants and shopping close by.  Also, as the market is a big tourist attraction, many of the restaurants and shops in the area had English menus and signs.  The main bus station is also just in front of Ben Thanh Market, which is where our airport bus dropped us off.  You can probably find more economical hotels a bit further into town, but we were happy to pay the little bit extra for the location.  In the end, our room worked out to be around $30CDN per night.

The room was clean, but the bathroom could have been better.  There was some residue near the drain of the shower and thankfully it followed the water down the drain.  Also, the shower curtain was very dirty and stained.

The room we paid for also came with a free buffet breakfast which consisted of the usual Asian and Western choices including rice, porridge, bread, spring rolls.  The funniest thing was that they served us cold tea, but warm juice.
