Hotel Review: Park Inn by Radisson Zurich Airport Hotel

As I had to be at the airport around 5:30am on the morning I was to depart Zurich, I decided that it would be a good idea to choose a hotel close to the airport.

The hotel is located about a 10 minute walk from Rümlang station, which is actually a very small residential station.  There is a small sign pointing you towards the hotels in the area, and if you follow the sign and exit the station, you will soon see a bridge over a large highway, which I would highly suggest crossing.  The only other opportunity to cross the highway is halfway to the hotel, but it is not an actual crossing and I saw some people standing around waiting forever before they could cross.

The hotel is located right next to a McDonald’s and also has a small restaurant of its own.  The front desk area is relatively small and can never be manned by more than 2 people at a time.  Check in was relatively seamless, and Radisson Rewards members will receive a complimentary bottle of water.

I had made a request for a king room, but unfortunately ended up with a room with 2 twins instead.  This wasn’t a huge issue and it ended up being quite a nice bright room.  The toilet, shower and sink were all separate and there was ample sitting room as well.

I had checked in on a Saturday for 2 nights and upon check in, I asked about the shuttle service to the airport. I was surprised to find out that it would cost 3CHF, as I knew that it was a complimentary service coming from the airport.  They recommend making reservations if you intend to take any of the first 3 shuttles of the day, which start at 5am.  The front desk said that since I wasn’t leaving until Monday, I could wait until Sunday to make my reservation.  The only problem was that when Sunday came around and I asked them about it again, the 5am shuttle was already sold out.  Thank goodness they decided to add on a 4:40am shuttle because there ended up being 7 people who needed it.  The shuttle to the airport was convenient and we arrived after a 10 minute uneventful ride.

Overall, it was a great stay and I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to be close to the airport.  The extra 30 minutes it takes to get to the city centre didn’t really bother me as I was only in Zurich for 2 days, but I likely wouldn’t recommend this hotel if you plan on staying there for any longer.
