Hotel Review: Holiday Inn Downtown Market Square

We stayed at this property for 3 nights and we were given a room on the first floor, which looked out into the pool area.

The bed was softer than I would have liked but they had very big and high pillows, which I liked.  The room didn’t have a safe, but it did have a fridge and microwave.

I was quite disappointed in the bathroom though as there wasn’t any place to put your stuff.  There was one towel rack near the sink, which was reserved for the hand towels.  The cabinet under the sink was used to hold the bath towels, but that isn’t easily reachable when you’re in the shower.  There looked to be some holes in the wall near the bathtub, so perhaps there was once a towel rack there, or perhaps they are intending to install one, but it was quite inconvenient at the time I was there.  They didn’t even have a hook on the door for you to hang things if you needed to.

Another thing that was a bit of an annoyance was the air conditioner.  It was the loudest air conditioner I had ever encountered.  Once it reaches the desired temperature, it would stop, but then as the temperature begins to fall or rise again, it will attempt to go back to the desired temperature, which meant that several times throughout the night, it would be super loud.

Location was great as it was within a 10 minute walk to Market Square.  There are also numerous bus stops around the hotel that would take you to all of the touristy spots within the city.

Service at the hotel was also great and after arriving home, I actually discovered an extra charge on my bill and the hotel staff took care of getting that removed right away.  If only they could improve their bathroom, the hotel stay would have been more enjoyable.
