Hotel Review: Ibis Styles Hobart

This is my first ever stay at an Ibis Styles and I must say that I am quite impressed with what I’ve seen so far.  In fact, I find this particular Ibis Styles to be of much higher quality than a Mercure I had previously stayed at.  It’s quite on par with the Novotels.

I had booked into a standard queen room but upon check in, I was upgraded to a superior queen room, which is on a higher floor and has a view of Mt. Wellington.  The room itself is actually quite small, even though it has all of the things I was expecting, including an in room safe, ironing board, mini fridge, table and chair.  The bathroom also had a rain shower, along with a hand held shower, which is always a plus!  The only strange thing I found about the bathroom was that they didn’t provide hand towels.  There were only bath and face towels.

Due to the fact that I was on the 14th floor, I was presented with some beautiful views of the city from my room.

Location wise, it is about a 10 minute walk to the water front, but there are a couple of blocks that are a bit hilly.  There are also many restaurants, cafes, shopping and grocery stores nearly as well.  Another great thing about the location is that the Airport Skybus stops about a block and a half away.

I was thoroughly impressed with this property and realized what a massive upgrade the Ibis Styles is compared to the regular Ibis and Ibis Budgets are.  Hopefully more and more of these hotels will pop up in the future.
