Birthplace of Chicken Teriyaki

As Seattle is home to Chicken Teriyaki, we had planned on trying the Seattle version for dinner one night.  I had wanted to try Toshi’s which is the restaurant chain that actually invented Chicken Teriyaki, but as there were no locations in downtown Seattle, we settled for Teriyaki Bowl, which received very good reviews online.

We arrived for a very early dinner and noticed that they had listed a couple of different specials. We each ordered a special and were both a bit disappointed.  The food looked delicious but the teriyaki sauce is very different from what we’re used to.  It was very runny and liquidy and didn’t have much taste to it.

It’s now peaked my curiosity as to whether this is a good representation of Seattle teriyaki sauce.  For a city that’s famous for inventing teriyaki sauce and all sorts of other foods associated with it, I can’t imagine that this is as good as it gets?
