Hotel Review: Hotel Five Stay Pineapple

I had been looking for a hotel in downtown Seattle and came across this little gem that was only about a 10-15 minute walk from Pike Place Market.  Although the name of the hotel is Stay Pineapple, I had no idea that the theme would be so thoroughly engraved into every aspect of the hotel.  At check in, the lady told us that the owner loves huskies and sure enough, the entire hotel was filled with pineapples and huskies.

The small lobby was a cozy gathering place full of games that both families and friends could partake in.

They also had a small restaurant and snack bar that was open until late.

The rooms are very unique, and the pineapple theme was stronger than ever.  From coffee mugs, to usb charging stations to toilet paper, everything was a reminder that you were in a pineapple hotel.

Even the cards that you hang on your door were unique!

In line with the theme, the hotel provided shampoo, hand soap and body lotion in a delicious smelling pina colada flavour.

For me, there were 2 slight downsides to the hotel.  The first being that the hotel charges a $20USD resort fee per night.  With the resort fee, you get an unlimited supply of bottled water and the hotel has a reception between 3pm and 6pm each night where they provide cupcakes and drinks.  We never took part in these as we were always out and about the city during that time, but there were usually still cupcakes left over and available for us when we returned to the hotel at night.  I’d must rather they have included the $20 into the hotel cost, because when I think about the water and cupcakes, I have a hard time justifying paying an extra $20USD a night for that.

The second downside is no fault of the hotel at all.  Because it is located downtown, there was a consistently strong smell of marijuana outside the hotel at all times.  Every time we had to walk back to the hotel, we would start smelling in about a block or so out.  There was also one night where one of the two elevators really stunk of marijuana as well.  But again, this isn’t the hotel’s fault, but was just a bit unpleasant for us.

Overall, the hotel was cute, charming and conveniently located.  I would definitely choose to stay here again if I were to return to Seattle.
