Garden Night Market Experience 花園夜市

I had first visited Tainan in 2011 with my sister and the best memories I have of Tainan is the Garden Night Market.  It is known as the largest outdoor night market in Taiwan and the atmosphere of the place was exhilarating.  Spring ahead a few years and I decided to make Tainan a part of my itinerary once again solely due to the wonderful memories of my first visit to the chaotic Garden Night Market.

Second time around, my perspective has now changed somewhat.  In 2011, I had visited this place on Christmas Eve, and perhaps it was due to the utter confusion and disorder of the place, along with the crowds and crowds of people that made it so memorable for me.  This time around, the market was still crowded but not quite to the extent of Christmas Eve.  I also found many of the same stalls to be selling the same foods – beef cubes were everywhere.  We had done some research and read about how the first beef stall near the entrance was supposed to be very good.  We tried it, thinking it was just so-so and then discovered that there was pretty much a beef stall near every entrance.

All in all, Garden Night Market is still a very worthwhile place to visit.  I was honestly a bit disappointed with the lack of selection this time around, but I would still go back in a heartbeat.
