Hotel Review: Sarangchae Guest House

On my first trip to Korea, we considered staying at the Sarangchae Guest House, because of the good reviews it had received on Tripadvisor.  However, being that it was our very first trip to the country, we weren’t too sure if choosing a hostel would be suitable for us, so we decided to stay in a hotel instead.

On our second trip to Gyeongju, we decided to just go for it and ended up booking a couple of nights at this property.  Even though it is a guest house, we didn’t really expect it to be a traditional Korean room, meaning that they supplied you with blankets to lay on the floor and you just sleep on the blankets.  In reality, it was actually quite comfortable, as the floor wasn’t super hard, and it was quite a cool experience.

The location was great and within walking distance of many of the attractions.  Better yet, they had a large common room and offered art classes on the night we were there, so we were able to decorate some fans the night we were there.

For a different accommodation experience, I would definitely recommend this place.  I was hesitant about sleeping on the floor but it was not bad at all.  Reservations can be made on most major booking sites, such as booking.com, tripadvisor and agoda.
