Visiting the Most Famous Tower in Seoul

I had ridden the elevator up to the top of Namsan Tower once before, but it was at night and this time, we decided to visit during the day instead.  Unfortunately, it wasn’t a blue sky day when we visited, but nonetheless we were able to see some breathtaking views of the metropolis.

We started at the base of the hill and took the cable car up to the top.

Once we reached the top, there was a big open area where many people were just hanging out.  On one side is the entrance to the tower and on another is the entrance into Namsan Park.  You can also find the Teddy Bear Museum near the entrance of the tower.

Aside from the views of Seoul, one of the biggest attractions atop Namsan seem to be the love locks.  I’m not sure where and how this culture of putting a lock on a fence started but I do know it’s spread like wildfire.  Namsan seems to take it to a whole new level though as there is wall after wall lined with locks of all shapes and sizes.

We finally made it to the top of the tower to see the views of Seoul.  Because of the fog and overcast sky, the view was limited, but we still got a good glimpse of this impressive skyline.

On a clear day, the views from the top would be breathtaking.  Perhaps one day I’ll have to go back again when the skies are clear.
