An Afternoon in Napa

Napa has never been on the top of my list of places to travel to, as I’m not a big fan of wine.  I’ve always figured that there wouldn’t be enough non-wine stuff to keep me interested.  When my friend suggested that we make a day trip to Napa, I was fine to go, but wasn’t anticipating too much.  In the end, I’m glad the decision was made to go, as it did make for a nice, relaxing day before we left San Francisco.

We started off nice and early by picking up our car from Enterprise.  The hour long drive to Napa was uneventful and we stopped in town to have a quick snack before heading to Castello di Amorosa.  It was quite breathtaking pulling up to the parking lot and then seeing such an impressive castle. We decided to pay the admission fee, but passed on the tour.  We were able to enter and climb up some of the towers to see the view below.

From here, we went into an underground storage area which also acted as their gift shop where we got to sample some wine.

After leaving Castello di Amorosa, we decided to head to Sterling Vineyards to see how it would compare.  We saw this cute sign as we were waiting to find out how much the gondola ride up to the winery was.  In the end, we decided to bypass the gondola and only explore the grounds, as the line was quite long.
