Filipino Food at Far East Plaza

I had heard about a Filipino restaurant called LASA that was making quite the name for itself, and prior to arriving in LA, we had tried to make dinner reservations there and nothing was available for the entire time we were there.  In the end, we decided to try it for lunch instead, where reservations were not required.

We arrived at LASA just after 11am and the doors were still locked.  Thankfully, there were windows where you could peek into the kitchen and after a few minutes, we decided to grab the chef’s attention and ask if the restaurant was open.  Good thing we did that as it seems someone either wasn’t paying attention to the time or just forgot to unlock the front door.

The lunch menu is very limited, but I viewed this as a positive as it helped us narrow down what we could try.  We each picked a different item and ended up sharing all of the food so that we could try a bit of everything

I ended up ordering the O.G. Pancit and I had previously heard that it was similar to a creamy mac & cheese.  I don’t quite agree with this statement as I didn’t find it particularly creamy.  In fact, I found it unexpectedly sour, but that is likely because I was expecting it to be similar to mac & cheese.  Regardless, it was still delicious and I would probably order it again if I went back.
