Ciqikou 磁器口- An Old Town Within Chongqing

Ciqikou (磁器口) was packed when I visited.  Most people were there to try all of the various street foods that lined the street. The look of the Ancient Town was impressive, but other than that I didn’t feel that this was as great as other parts of Chongqing.

The actual Ciqikou was very small and easily walkable.  In fact, it was much smaller than I had expected.  Stretched into a few city blocks, it mainly consisted of shops selling dried goods, treats, street food and little souvenirs.

We rented a tandem bike for CNY15 (for one hour) to ride down along the river. The bike ride itself only actually just takes about 25-30 minutes (at a leisurely pace), but this was perhaps the best part of visiting Ciqikou.  The path was crowded as many people had the same idea.  It’s too bad the promenade overlooked such a gloomy, polluted skyline.
