A Lovely Lunch at The Sweet Dynasty 糖朝

The Sweet Dynasty 糖朝
Address: Hankow Rd, Hong Kong

I was meeting up with my relatives in Hong Kong and my uncle took us to this Cantonese restaurant in TsimShaTsui that was once renowned only for their desserts.  Over time, the restaurant has developed their food menu to be top notch as well and we enjoyed a very pleasant lunch of typical Cantonese food.

The name of the restaurant is a clever play on the term Tang Dynasty.  糖 is sugar or sweet and 朝 is dynasty.  The two words have the same pronunciation as 唐朝, Tang Dynasty.

We were seated on the second level and even though it was already past 1:00pm, the restaurant was still very crowded.  We were fortunately enough to be seated quickly without having to line up for very long and once we sat down, the service was quick and in no time at all, I was already served my red bean slush.

Our food came shortly after.  We tried shrimp wontons, Chinese donut rice crepes stuffed with pork, glutinous rice balls, and rice noodles with beef.  We also ordered some sweet tofu dessert to try.  Everything we had was delicious and I can’t wait to go back and try more items.
